Over $1.2 million in grant funding awarded by Cameron Foundation in June 2012 cycle

In its second of three cycles for the year, The Cameron Foundation’s Board of Directors has awarded grants to nonprofits totaling $1,271,715. These funds, disbursed to 15 different organizations, are designed to benefit residents of the Tri-Cities area. For 2012, the Foundation’s first competitive grant cycle occurred in February, and a third round of awards will be considered during the October cycle.

According to Board Chair Larry C. Tucker, “Many of these grants will support the continuation of very important work that’s going on throughout the Southside community. The newer activities that are being funded this time are in response to some of our key areas of focus – these include health, human services, education, and community and economic development.” The Foundation generally reviews requests across multiple program areas, but among those, it prioritizes work in these four categories.
