Cameron Foundation welcomes program officer Jamaal Ellison to staff
The Cameron Foundation, a private foundation serving the Tri-Cities area with philanthropic leadership and support, welcomes Jamaal D. Ellison to its staff as a program officer.
Jamaal D. Ellison, Program Officer
Ellison holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in small business and entrepreneurship from Virginia Commonwealth University. He spent more than 15 years in the private sector before deciding to pursue his true passion of serving marginalized communities. Prior to joining Cameron, he served as director of program operations for Communities In Schools of the Tri-Cities (formerly Communities In Schools of Petersburg), where he spent nine years supporting students and families in Petersburg City Public Schools as well as Hopewell City Public Schools. During his tenure, he was instrumental in establishing Communities In Schools as a trusted resource and beacon of support in both communities.
“We are delighted to have Jamaal join our staff,” said Cameron President Nadine Marsh-Carter, JD. “His past work at Communities in Schools centered on cross-sector collaboration to drive meaningful community impact, a strategy that we consider critical in our work. Additionally, through his first-hand experiences working in Cameron’s service area, he brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to our efforts here at the Foundation,” she added.
